My friend recently started on as the GG's French-to-English translator (covering mat leave for a year).

Since she's the only one on the job, and the work is fairly high profile, she sometimes asks me and another friend for our input.

She did not appreciate my suggestion to insert "keep on rocking in the free world" into the message to the Forces.

Other than that, though, I've been genuinely trying to help.

It's always fun translating stuff that will actually be read and heard by other people and not just immediately tossed into somebody's file.

Last night, we worked on the speech for the Literary Awards. Now we're waiting for the New Year's address. Cool, eh?

Also, lunch at the Rideau Hall cafeteria is ridiculously cheap and wholesome. I get to go some time.

So very important!

Unrelated: I get my new glasses today.

More exciting: Jo lives in Canada again!
